Okay, so it’s a little early, but I wanted to wish you all a Happy International Women’s Day!

The little yellow bauble flowers in this arrangement are mimosa (sometimes called Acacia), the official flower of International Women’s Day.

Why Mimosa? Fluffy, bouncy, sunny orbs.

Mimosas: Champagne and orange juice. I suppose that’s a reasonably lady like drink.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of smelling the blossom, its pure butter and sunshine and sweet laundry in a summer garden. Acacia also has large, sharp thorns.

Incidentally, another species of mimosa (Mimosa tenuiflora) contains a compound in its bark that is one of the most powerful hallucinogens known to man: DMT.
